I still believe that the environment I grew up in had a huge influence on my life. It s not easy when your mother is mentally ill. In the 1950 s there was little tolerance for the mentally ill. They were either locked up in Asylums, given shock therapy or just ignored. My mother was left untreated until she was in her 50 s.
