Generation PTSD — The Trigger Warning Debate

GENERALS IN MANY CASES ARE ACCUSED of fighting the last war, of facing every foe through the prism of earlier conflicts. No less than military leaders, political polemicists, run the danger of conflating current and the previous. Over recent months, a number of our sharpest liberal writers have been warning of a resurgent identity politics, a fresh political correctness that evokes earlier conflicts. A number of these writers are shaped by the political correctness fights of the 1990s a tangle of discussions about multiculturalism, speech codes, and the literary canon.
