Teacher Scared by Gunman during Routine Drill – Sues Oregon Area for PTSD


A former grade school teacher in eastern Oregon says she was so frightened when a man burst into her classroom and pulled the trigger on the pistol he pointed at her face that she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, and it has sued the district s security officer and others responsible for a surprise active shooter exercise. The episode in April 2013 at Pine Eagle School District No. 61, a charter school in Halfway, followed the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, which left 20 kids and six adults dead. At the time, Pine Eagle officials said they ran the exercise to see how a lot of the staff of the school would survive an onslaught. Two guys ran it on a Friday when pupils were home for a teacher inservice day. Officials judged that a real attack would have made most of the 15 teachers dead. The federal court suit says Linda McLean running feet and was sitting at her desk when she heard a clatter, and then a guy in black hoodie and goggles burs
