PTSD Statistics are as follows: An estimated 70 percent of adults in America have experienced a traumatic event at least one time in their own lives, and up to 20 percent of these individuals go on to develop Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD. An estimated 5 percent of Americans more than 13 million individuals have PTSD at any particular time. About 8 percent of all adults one of 13 individuals in this nation will develop PTSD during the course of their life. An estimated one out of 10 girls will get PTSD at some time within their own lives. Girls are around twice as likely as men to develop PTSD.
